APPEARANCEAs a young woman, Kaname has tan skin, dark brown eyes and long, straight and deep-brown hair which is normally partially pulled back into a partial bun.Her face carries a very clear resemblance to Hashirama, and she has most of his coloring. Though her features are softer and rounder. If you know the two, or place them next to each other, the family-resemblance is undeniable.She has a pale horizontal scar that follows the shape of her right cheekbone. She also has a prominent scar on the inside of her right elbow, and her inner left thigh, from severe compound fractures caused by her training in opening the Eight Gates.For everyday wear she tends to wear pants or hakama, with a sleeveless and open back top either worm underneath a dark olive green haori with the Senju crest embroidered in cream on the back. or a light-green shirt kimono with rolled sleeves.
She can be seen wearing simple yukatas or kimono in neutral and simple colors and patterns as well.
She favors wearing various shades of warm, yellowish green and khaki. Sometimes with details of muted shades of pink. Occasionally red.She frequently wears a pair of gold teardrop earrings, a pink plum-blossom kanzashi with gold details, a bracelet with wooden beads and jade, and black sandals.She has good posture and is rarely seen slouching. THE LIFE OF KANAME SENJUKaname was born during the era of warring states, six years before peace was officially stablished between the Senju and the Uchiha clan.
She was the second child of Senju Hashirama and Uzumaki Mito, and the younger sister of Danma Senju by less than a year.She spent her early childhood being raised in the Senju clan’s settlement in The Forest of a Thousand Paths, being trained along with her brother from a young age to eventually become a capable shinobi.By around the age of four it had started to become quite evident that Kaname seemed unable to perform ninjutsu, and by extension genjutsu. She could still create, access and use potent chakra her heritage granted her, but she seemed unable to alter its nature, or change its natural properties into a jutsu.
She had very advanced chakra control, and was still able to shape her cakra.Several members of the Senju tried to somehow find a method that would click for her. But while she advanced in other areas, nin-and-genjutsu remained fields where she was completely unable to excel.
This was not normal.
Sure every so often there would be someone who did not necessarily have a talent for Ninjutsu or genjutsu, but even they could usually manage to learn a couple of useful jutsu to add to their skillset.
But it was much more rare to find someone who couldn't do it at all.As a result of this feeling of inadequacy, Kaname worked hard to master other skills.
She trained herself to exhaustion, striving to perfect her skill in taijutsu and kenjutsu.
She studied alternative methods of using chakra in combat in combination with taijutsu and kenjutsu, fields where she did show talent.
With the help of her mother she managed to develop a few seals that she could use without the need for nature transformation in order to activate them.But it was still some who questioned if Kaname could even be considered a ninja at all.
Ninjutsu was the defining skill of the ninja after all.
Was blood, and her other skills, which were nothing to scoff at, enough?When Kaname was six years old, Hashirama finally managed to convince Madara Uchiha to make peace between their clans.
She and the rest of her clan eventually relocated to Konoha as it took form, and while she didn't stop training, things didn't seem as severe for a time.
That was until the academy popped up.
When the system for it, and the requirements for entry, were being set, Hashirama realized quickly that Kaname was not going to make the cut and suspected that it was not going to be taken well.And he was right.While she hardly perform badly during the entrance exams, when it could not be hidden that she had no ability whatsoever for nature transformation, making her unable to perform ninjutsu or genjutsu, she was immediately rejected.
Partially to blame for this was her uncle, who had been among the exam proctors. When he's been asked if he believed Kaname would be capable of picking up these skills he had said no, and then came the mostly unanimous decision that she would not be entering the academy.It had not been Tobirama's intention to hurt her. But he had made the decision not to lie to the others who oversaw the selection of students.Several members of the Senju felt like it was insulting to the clan to suggest that Kaname was unfit to even be trained to be a ninja based solely on her inability to perform ninjutsu.
The Senju were the clan of a thousand skills. Refusing her based on her lack of one (or two) skills was a slap in the face to what had made the Senju so formidable in the past.But the decision would stand.Still, Kaname's reaction was worse. She was angry, and hurt, of course.
She wash ashamed and felt betrayed.
But when all those loud feelings settled, she completely withdrew into herself.
She avoided contact with others, slept irregularly and ate little.She found herself aimless and restless.
Her whole life she had believed that she would live and die as a ninja. Even if many thought her inability for ninjutsu would never really allow her to be fully seen as one, and that it would likely lead to an early grave. It had still been a path.
She had trained to survive, alongside her friends and family, and to support her clan.Not only was she no longer expected, or allowed, to do any of these things, but she couldn’t in many ways. Most adults continued on the shinobi path in favor of the village. Most children above the age of five ended up enrolling in the academy, where they would receive both general education as well as shinobi training.If she wanted training, she had to do what she could on her own, or hound someone into doing it with her when they had the time.
And her studies were now limited to what she could get at home or had access to in the slowly filling library.The rest of her days were agonizingly slow and empty.She deeply questioned the purpose of her existence and that was not helped by how nobody could really give her an answer to the question; what am I supposed to do now?
For a while, she was deeply depressed.
She felt immense shame, anger and confusion. She was lonely, and felt lost. She felt disconnected from everything and everyone she’d known.
The attempted kidnapping that occurred around the same time had it’s own devastating effects on her already crumbling sense of self and self-worth.She considered, and attempted, to take her own life.
As she saw little point or worth in her existence.It took time, but eventually dragged herself out of her depression enough to function.
She never fully recovered, though, and still felt misplaced and abandoned.She dedicated her time to studying, to training herself.
She didn't want to feel helpless, she didn't want to be defined by her failures. And she pushed herself hard in attempts at achieving that, with or without help.With time, stubborn diligence and discipline, and harsh, painful training.She was still plagued by the fact that it was probably all for nought.
This training was not going to be useful to anyone but her own ego.
Hashirama had discouraged her from challenging the decision that had made her fail the entrance exam, as to support the integrity of the system he was trying to encourage the inhabitants of the village to accept.But at least it brought some life back into her being, and over time she created a pretty rigorous routine of training and studying for herself that kept the worst of her loneliness and restlessness at bay.Not long after Madara Uchiha deflected from Konoha, only to return the year after with the Nine-tailed beast.Throughout her early teens, Kaname would still be defined as little more than an extension of Hashirama, and not a very good one.Despite all the work she put into training herself, to raise herself to the same level as her peers, she was never recognized for it.
The moment she had failed the entrance exams she had lost most of her worth and capability in the eyes of the village that was dominated by shinobi, most of which had been born and raised in an era where the pride of living and drying as a shinobi was everything.But throughout her teens, she started to embrace a new self.
A self that left the shell that had been left behind when her identity and dreams had been ripped from her.
She embraced a newfound love for life and pleasure, to experience. To chose to love and care for herself.
She nurtured the tiny spark that had linger within her that had ultimately been the one thing that had kept her from going through with ending her life, the little piece of herself that loved life too much to let it go.
She formed a new self through the things she could feed the spark with.
Her arms and legs were still bruised, bones still cracked, and her muscles were sore from being pushed to their limit.
But she started to embraced joy and pleasure openly. She started savor sensual, material things. Sensations that grounded her, that made her feel alive, confident, calm.
Until then she had never put too much effort into her everyday appearance, having neither the time, energy or care for it. This changed.
She started taking pleasure in caring for her looks, and allowed herself to do so without shame.
Slowly she started showing up more in public, steadily growing more secure in her new self.
It did not stop people from side-eyeing her, but they were easier fro her to ignore, or call out.It was during this time, when she was sixteen, that she met Shigeki Hyuga, who she would find herself in a romantic relationship with.
It did not last. In fact, it ended quite badly. His clan had not been very fond of the idea, and went so far as to bring the matter to Hashirama.It was humiliating, and Kaname experienced her second major heartbreak of her life when Shigeki had to break off their relationship.
It rattled her confidence in her worth once again.But it didn't knock her down.
---When Kaname was twenty-one, Hashirama Senju died.
And a year after that, her brother Danma would disappear during a mission, and war started not long after.
A war during witch her uncle would die as well.In a time, there was so much death.
First her father and brother, then uncle, along with a large portion of her clan perished as a result of the first Shinobi world war.And Kaname was left numb.

As a child, Kaname was a happy, vibrant and and highly empathetic.
She would engage and please and was social.
She was stubborn, and occasionally distressed about the difference in skill between herself and her gifted brother, while not exactly jealous, she did want to be as skilled as him and worked hard to achieve that.The attempted kidnapping and near-death experience created further anxiety, and a wish to be strong and able to protect herself.

After not making the cut and being refused training at the academy, she was frustrated and lost, feeling displaced and weak surrounded by her family of shinobi that ranged from gifted to god-like in strength and skill.
By being refused entry to the academy, she had been publicly rejected and declared unfit to be a shinobi.
She was unfit to walk the same path every member of her family and clan did and always had.And apart from her mother, nobody truly insisted that she'd be given a chance.For a while she was in a dark place, slipping into a deep depression so dark that for a time the only way she could see out of it was death.It took time, but eventually dragged herself out of it.
She dedicated her time to training herself. To study. Independently.
She didn't want to feel helpless, she didn't want to be seen as a failure. And she pushed herself hard in attempts at achieving that.
At first, she filled the emptiness with the pain of strained muscle and bleeding knuckles.

It was spending more time appreciating nature, even when she was solitary. It was preparing and enjoying tea with her mother, along with sweets made with care.
It was spending more time at the hotsprings. It was taking the time to savor the sensation of brushing her hair by an open window.In a way, she started taking after the poised looks of her mother; her exterior reflecting an attentiveness for her appearance and appreciation for adornments and clothing made with fine materials and sophisticated craftsmanship.-“It took me a long time to love myself, years actually.
With that being said, you ether like me or you don’t. I have no time to try and convince anyone to value all that I am.”-To some, her new mannerisms makes her appear a bit vain, fanciful and frivolous.
And might roll their eyes, express that she's less than because she spends time on herself rather than being able to serve the village.
This is something she hates to hear.She did not choose to not become a shinobi.She was refused that life and told she would never have what it took to become one.
So having people shame her for not only not being the thing she wanted to be, and was refused and discouraged from pursuing, but also for indulging in the things she's found that makes her not want to kill herself?It fills her with genuine rage.
She might smile and walk away.
She might smile and flip them off.

-Throughout her teens Kaname is generally seen in three different ways:
There are those who look at her with distain or mockery in the face of her failings and weaknesses, that see her as less because of her position as a civilian and failure to live up to Hashirama's legacy and the reputation of the Senju.Then there are those who have come to be very fond of the sociable and approachable, generous, exuberant and clever young woman she had evolved into, that is happy to help those who are in need. And who treat her kindly, and with respect know they will be treated so in turn.
Civilians in particular, though certainly not all of them, have found a fondness for Kaname , and it is them that she tends to be drawn towards to engage with and support.More privately however, she is still relentless and stubborn in her convictions, resourceful, hard-working and unwavering in the face of loving, cherishing and improving herself despite her failings, the way and the pressure of the expectations placed on her as her father's child.
She works hard and have become wholly capable of acknowledging and awarding herself satisfaction for it.She is wholly devoted to herself, still carrying deep wounds from the betrayal of her father, uncle and how the village had turned on her.
She have come to favor caring for individuals, rather than the village as a whole.
The village as a whole caused her nothing but pain and a desire to kill herself for years.
She owes it nothing.
Much to the dismay of her father, who was always hoping to spread his philosophy of The Will of Fire and for his children to carry it on.-

Kaname holds grudges with ease, but she's quite mature about it. It's quiet and subtle but if someone does something to wrong and doesn't care to make up for it she doesn't forgive easily and will carry it with her for a very long time.
She have never forgiven Tobirama for what he did, even if her relationship with him is better, and he knows as much.✤ Nosy
Because of her status as a civilian, she's often excluded from accessing information she'd otherwise be in the know of. But she still spent her childhood training to become a spy and she has a very close relationship to important individuals. She's pretty much always listening and watching, and sometimes meddling into business that she shouldn't. She's something of a wallflower.✤ Self-conscious
Cares a great deal for what others think of her worth. Even if she tried very hard to hide it.✤ Self-indulgent
Sometimes her actions are driven by her ego. She trains herself to exhaustion despite knowing it will likely not change anything other than soothe her own feelings of worthlessness.

NOTABLE ABILITIES:✤ As a child of both the Senju and the Uzumaki bloodline, Kaname and her brothers all naturally posesses an incredibly strong life-force and vitality.
This allows them a great pool of stamina, physical strength and prowess, and the ability to endure and recover from injuries, illnesses and exhaustion with incredible efficiency and within a much shorter amount of time than others.
To put it simply, Kaname and her brothers are physically strong, tough and resilient as fuck.

THE LIFE OF DANMA SENJUDanma was born during the era of warring states, seven years before peace was officially stablished between the Senju and the Uchiha clan. He was the first child of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki, and would become the older brother of Kaname and Kichiro.
With his father at the head of this alliance, he encouraged the young Danma to connect with children from other clans, especially the Uchiha and though he did try, his attempts were not always successful.Danma was eight years old when the academy was founded and by then he had already adopted basic and intermediate skills, and was well on his way to obtain some advanced techniques skills from his shinobi parents and family, and showed great promise.
With the academy system being very new, any child who entered was closely supervised and progress was reported to the Konoha council in order to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the system as well as trying to prepare for how to create future teams.He was studious and advanced quickly, almost too quickly as his classmates was often unable to keep up but because of the new system they didn’t allow him to take the exams any sooner than the others.
At 13 he graduated the academy with flying colors and a year later he and his team passed the Chunin exam (which was slightly different at this point in time and wasn't called the Chunin exam).At sixteen he was promoted to Jounin and though he still did mission with his original team he was often entrusted with mission to complete on his own or as the head of a different or larger team.
Some believed that this was a case of favorism from the Hokage but Danma was a genuinely good ninja.And it was hardly a secret that Danma's relationship with his father was strained, and it grew more and more so as time went on.
Many things contributed to this; from Hashirama's dream making his family and clan not exactly a priority, his lack of support when Kaname was refused entry to the academy and wanted to end her own life in shame, his insistence on giving Hiruzen Sarutobi personal training despite his otherwise busy schedule.(Important info but is not a part of my main portrayal of Danma. If you interact with him randomly he probably haven’t had Tsunade yet.)During a mission to The Land of Stone, Danma fell in love.
He fell in love and he fell hard, but not hard enough to abandon his team, his mission and his village to stay with her.
Once his mission was completed, he returned home. But some months later he received a message and without more than a note saying he would come back, he left.
It created quite a rouse and the Hokage’s anger and confusion was evident.
After a month he came back, with a baby.
That baby was his daughter, which had been named Tsunade.Two years later, he marries a woman named Kaede.The following year Hashirama Senju dies.The year after that, at twenty-two years old, Danma leaves the village for a mission with a team of five others, and never returns home.Tobirama Senju, Hokage at time, launched a search for them when it became known that the team had never reached the rendezvous for the mission they’d been sent on and could not be contacted.
The only traces found of them was an arm, sliced off by the bicep and carrying a tattoo, identifying it as having belonged to a member of the team, as well as the charred remnants of a konoha headband.Their bodies were never recovered and the true circumstances surrounding their deaths remained a mystery.
Just a few months later, Danma's second child is born, a boy that was named Nawaki.Less than a year after his disappearance, the 1st shinobi world war starts.

PERSONALITYOf the three children, Danma is the most like their father personality-vise.
Outgoing, charismatic, confident and overall optimistic, not afraid to the first step or take action first, or adopt the role of a leader when there isn’t one.As a child he harbored a deep resentment for Hiruzen Sarutobi, being jealous of the time Hashirama, his own father, spent training the prodigious Sarutobi boy, and feeling replaced and inadequate.
Sometimes this anger would manifest in violence but mainly he just made no effort in trying to be nice to Hiruzen no matter how much his father wanted it.
Danma is spiteful and can be so towards anyone he dislikes, this mainly includes his father, Hiruzen and his sister, at least for a while.

Later on in his teens he grow a bit more mature, and his relationship with Hiruzen would improve...somewhat.
He takes his role as ninja very seriously and despises when someone his own age or younger claims they regret becoming one, as he think that is disgracing the memory of those before them who died as ninja without ever having been given the choice.

He becomes a lot more serious and has an even more difficult time talking about his feelings than before.He doesn’t have any interest in following his father's footsteps to the Hokage seat however; he’s more interested in protecting it as a concept, and was expected to pick up as head of the Senju Clan regardless.He's normally known to be quite charming and charismatic however, not too unike his father. But his charm has a different tone to it, and have at times been seen something of a ladies man.
While his usual mood is lighthearted and with a broad smile, once he gets angry he is not one to toy with.
He has the Uzumaki clan’s infamous temper when someone crosses the line.He is very close to his mother and likes to give her gifts he bring with him from missions outside the village.
This desire for approval later shifted to his father for a while, then as he grew to dislike his father more and more, his priority once again shifted to the other members of his family.The ones Hashirama did not prioritize.

THE LIFE OF KICHIRO SENJUKichiro was born as the third and youngest of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki's three children, roughly ten years after Konohagakure had been officially established under the eyes of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha.His birth was wrecked with worry and fear.
Not a year prior, Madara uchiha, who had deflected from the village some time earlier, returned to lay waste to ten years of progress, and his old friend and rival. With him he had brought Kurama, the nine-tailed demon.
In order to aid her husband in his battle with Madara, and protect the village, Mito sealed the Tailed beast within herself, becoming it's first jinchūriki.Nobody knew how effective this would be. Nobody knew if it was a long-term solution. And when Mito once again became pregnant, anxiousness started to rise.The seal keeping Kurama at bay, almost broke. Almost. It was a terrifying and concerning event, but it still proved the overall efficiency of the seal, and the strength of the woman maintaining it.The baby, Kichiro , was overall healthy.
But the Nine-tails had still managed to leave a mark on him as he had grown within his mother, physically, but also at such a deep level as to alter his chakra.
The strong vicious chakra that enter twined with and affected him was a concerning matter.
And as he grew, as his natural talent for the path of the ninja became clearer, as he grew stronger, so seemed the effect of the demon's chakra on him.Out of Hashirama's three progeny, Kichiro may have been the only one who could have possibly grown out of his father's shadow.He was strong and getting stronger, ferocious.As a child, Kichiro was lively, full of energy and vitality, though prone to anger his behavior gave no cause for true concern until the death of Hashirama, when the boy was nine. He had a close and loving, even protective, relationship with his sister.Some also thought that because Kichiro had been conceived after Kurama had been sealed into his mother, the bloodthirst and aggression of the beast influenced, and intensified the hate, bloodthirst and aggression in Kichiro . For as he entered his teens, his fighting style became more and more aggressive and he had no problem with shedding blood, of others or his own.
Out of Hashirama's three progeny, it became theorized that Kichiro may have been the only one who could have possibly grown out of his father's shadow.He was strong, and getting stronger, ferocious.
He was promoted to Jonin at 15, joined the joined the ANBU at 16.At 17, Kichiro was one of many of the Uzumaki bloodline who were systematically hunted down and assassinated following the destruction of Uzushiogakure.He died from his injuries and a poison too strong and that worked too fast for his body to repel.

Kaname and Danma Senju grew up within the safety of the Senju clan's ancestral home; The Forest of a Thousand Paths. In the land of fire, located in the middle of a vast forest that covers the foot and sides of a mountain range.The enemies of the Senju know better than to try and find this settlement on their own. Whispering, all-seeing buddha's, everywhere, watching you through the mist from the mossy forest floor and nestled into trunks of ancient trees. Winding, disorienting paths. Shadows shifting, the movement and sounds of something among the trees. Toxic, hallucinogenic spores in the air that causes visions of terror, regret, deep desires and fury to consume you and drive you mad, visions not even the Uchiha's Sharingan have been able to break through.Still, forest is the safest possible place for a Senju, who have learned the right paths to take, who the buddha's spare their whispers, who have the immunity to the poison in the air in their blood, who have called it home for hundreds of years.But had not been the place Hashirama had hoped for his children to grow up in.When the peace had come breaking apart, after three years of hard work to try and keep the clans from slipping back into open enmity, keeping them reminded of why they had stopped fighting, and preventing the rest of the world from interfering, the foundation of the village he had hoped to build with Madara was abandoned, and the clans returned to their old homes.

Some facing terrible consequences to their reputations as a result of breaking their old contracts.Hashirama brought his family back to his ancestral home, to keep them safe while he tried to somehow keep everything he had worked for from slipping completely out of control.
But despite his efforts, things somehow seemed to get worse.
The doubters and the opposition had been proven right, and too many had as a result turned their backs on the vision of peace and unification Hashirama had tried to sell them.
They looked at the system that were being put into place, and saw it favor the Senju.
The Uchiha clan in particular, despite their desire for peace, refused to accept the system that they could see would put the Senju in a position of power.
It didn't feel right.
But as they protested, they were called paranoid and uncooperative.
Things turned sour and tension rose.With the Uchiha starting to lose trust in their alliance with the Senju, other clans also started getting second thoughts.
And the harder Hashirama tried to keep things under control, the more they all resisted, starting to fear and resent his strength rather than respect it.
As it all crumbed, the failed peace somehow had cemented the idea that war, the conflict between them, was unavoidable.
Perhaps, even necessary.

Almost a decade have passed since.Without the unification of the clans under the banner of a village, without the sharing of information, techniques, ideas between them, they remained splintered and utterly unable to establish themselves as the far more formidable and superior military force that would have completely rearranged the status quo and knocked the samurai off their perch as the undisputed leaders of most military forces and campaigns for the past centuries.Without this unification, the ninja remained only as powerful as their clan allowed them, limited to what knowledge, abilities and benefits that could be passed down.Without the unification, each individual clan continued to depend on their reputation and credibility to be hired as as spies and infiltrators, assassins and mercenaries.Without the unification, the social elite continued their constant and bloody political intrigues and grasping for land, power and opportunity, with the ninja as merely another set of useful pieces in their schemes, and with the bloody rivalries and conflicts between the clans being of little interest to them.
The clans still clash.
They are pitted against each other by the Feudal lords, samurai and nobility of the land who benefit from the enmity, as they play their games of politics and war.
The need for contracts, that will pay for the lives of their clans, are once again fought over by the shinobi.
Even the Senju.

Danma Senju, Hashirama's oldest child, was given his first mission at fourteen. His father tried to delay it for as long as he could, hoping he could somehow offer his children, as well as the others in his clan, a better chance than his brother's had.And for Damna, that had worked.
Despite disappointing all by not inheriting his father's kekkei genkai, and few thinking he will ever be able to live up to his father's power, five years later he was still alive, and had become a truly formidable ninja in his own right. A natural born shinobi. Strong, fast and with the vitality, endurance and the powerful chakra of the Senju and Uzumaki bloodlines combined running hot in his veins.

Kaname Senju, had been a girl of nine when her father had been forced to send his children back to the ancient Senju settlement when the peace fully came apart. And since then, the outside world heard very little about Hashirama's daughter.There had been an underlying, buzzing anxiety about Hashirama Senju's children ever since they had been born.
His strength, and use of his ancient and rare kekkei genkai which had made him near unstoppable on the battlefield, with the only known person to have been able to remotely go toe-to-toe with him being Madara Uchiha, was terrifying.
But what some theorized to be more terrifying than meeting Hashirama Senju in battle, would be to face more than one like him.
What if, his children inherited the ability that had driven the Uchiha to their knees.
What if.Some might have exhaled a sigh of relief when neither of his children showed no signs of using or possessing the mokuton when observed during the few short years of peace.
Danma was certainly promising. he had all the best traits of the Senju and Uzumaki clan.
But he was no Hashirama.

Kaname Senju - the progeny of the Hashirama Senju. A child with blood from not only the main branch of the Senju clan, but the Uzumaki clan's as well... could not perform even the simplest of ninjutsu.
Kaname Senju, was the shinobi equivalent of a cripple.By the time Kaname was fifteen, any shinobi clans who took an interest in the goings-on of the Senju had firmly marked her name as being of little to no consequence.
She certainly did not have the mokuton, or ability to perform ninjutsu of any kind it seemed. In fact, in the eyes of many, Hashirama would be a fool to let that girl out of the safety of their forest if he valued her life.She had been born into the wrong family. She had been born into the wrong world.Still, at fifteen, Kaname was deemed strong enough to start serving her clan outside of the forest.
Kaname had to prove she could make up for being unable to use Ninjutsu by damn near mastering any other ninja art she could possibly engage in.
And she did.
She managed to make it to a point where Hashirama could no longer justify not letting her go on to take missions without appearing biased and overprotective.
